Life-Changing

"I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes." (Psalm 101:3a)

In my mid-twenties, I had a friend whose father was a pastor at a church in Philadelphia, PA. He placed Psalm 101:3 directly above the family's t.v. within their home's living room. Appropriate, no?

We can't control the world around us. You walk inside most malls today you'll be inundated with soft-porn - Yes, Pornography -  Victoria's Secret Posters, Ambercrombie & Fitch Ads, etc. We see it so often we become desensitized to it.

Billboards we drive past are often suggestive; as "they" say, sex sells.

Even if you are attempting to watch a decent show, on a local television station, you'll be seeing inappropriate commercials from the likes of Hardee's. Supermarket check-out lanes and magazine covers; scantily clad men and women all over the place!

I'm a fan of beauty, in male and female form; everyone reflects God, and is a part of Him, whether they recognize it or not. However, in order to keep our thoughts pure; is it impossible? A constant battle!

We can't control the world, and because sex sells it's something we are always going to be inundated with; however, we are still able to make choices for ourselves. We don't have to pick-up erotica in the form of a novel the likes of Fifty Shades of Grey, we don't have to thumb through Sport's Illustrated, Swim-Suit Editions; we don't have to view Kim Kardashian's naked body just because her nudity is touted as something that will break the internet. We don't have to see R rated movies we know are going to include sex scenes and violence, and we don't have to watch t.v. shows that promote the same. We don't have to conform to the standards of this world, (Romans 12:2), we can set the bar much higher for ourselves.

Set the bar high, condition yourself to achieve it, and you'll be setting the bar high for those who look to you for guidance.

May the path you pave, and the trails you blaze, lead others to righteousness; don't lead others astray. Be like Jesus on the earth, a friend of sinners, who lifted people higher, and led them to change their ways.

Kindness, peace, love and respect; lead by example.

Power in the blood of Jesus and that power has been transferred to you and me. Be renewed, be transformed, and truly live for him. Set no vile thing before your eyes and instead keep your eyes focused on Christ. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Giving my all to raise you up!
